While trained in classical Western psychology, Woolger became fascinated with the effects of past-life therapy after personally experiencing its beneficial results. Woolger argues that while we might not remember them, past lives have left their scarring effects on all of us, and only by revisiting and working through these painful experiences can we experience healing. However, Woolger is a careful psychologist and recognises that not all supposed memories are real. Nevertheless, he maintains that even imagined memories reveal something of the person and can be used to help process pain and lead to a better, more loving life.
